Join us as we embark on a five-month journey of exploration around the privileges we didn't realize we had and the biases we didn't know we held.
We will gather on Zoom every Thursday at 7pm from July 9 to November 19. The first session will be an hour and a half long. Each session after that will be 30 to 45 minutes. We will pray, meet in small groups to discuss our ponderings on each chapter, and then debrief in large group.
We realize this may be the hardest study we will ever do and it will be accompanied by many growing pains. At times we may feel defensive or a little hurt. We may question why we are even in this conversation. When that happens, we will support each other with prayer and love.
We will not be gathering to judge one another or to decide who is further along in this process. Instead, as a community of love, we will truly listen to one another and reflect back what we hear. We will ALL learn and grow on this journey together.
If you are interested in participating in this journey, please purchase the book, Me and White Supremacy by Layla Saad, as soon as possible. We have a few scholarships available to cover the cost of the book. Please let the church office know if you need one of the scholarships. There is no cost for the discussion group itself.
To let us know you will join us on this journey, please email Pastor Kim.
